Originally from Italy, Dr. Alberto Bonfiglio brings a wealth of global experience and broad clinical expertise to our team.
Dr. B graduated from Texas A&M University with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2009, and later earned a Master of Science in Information Technology (Software Engineering). His veterinary career spans practice across four continents—the United States, Germany, Japan, and Australia. Following veterinary school, he served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps, completing an intensive one-year post-graduate internship focused on Military Working Dog (MWD) medicine and trauma at Lackland Air Force Base, where he gained extensive experience caring for high-performance canine teams worldwide.
Clinically, Dr. B has special interests in soft tissue surgery, cardiology, emergency and critical care (ER), exotic animal medicine, and the innovative application of CAD and 3D printing for veterinary orthopedic prosthetics. His years navigating demanding military postings, rural Australian practices, and busy emergency shifts taught him how to think quickly on his feet, adapt to real-world clinical and client constraints, and deliver high-quality medicine in any situation.
What drew Dr. B to veterinary medicine was a fascination with biological puzzle-solving and advocating for patients who cannot speak for themselves. In practice, he finds the greatest reward in the immediate impact of acute care—performing intricate surgeries, stabilizing emergency cases, and guiding families through critical decisions with calm clarity.
After spending the past five years living and practicing “down under” in Queensland, Australia, Dr. B and his family are excited to return home to the Pacific Northwest. Outside the hospital, he is an avid programmer and robotics enthusiast who volunteered running the robotics lab at his children's school—a community mentorship he looks forward to continuing locally. In his personal time, he pursues an independent study of quantum physics with a focus on time theory. When away from his books and tech projects, you will find him in the cockpit flying, fencing, training in martial arts, touring on his motorcycle, or out on the water fishing.
